Shayna Colvin is an artist and photographer from Orange County, California who now resides in Pioneertown, California. Shayna studied photography and rode on the equestrian team at The Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating in 2017 with a BFA in Photography. During her time in school she focused on fashion photography and portraiture, shooting for various brands and magazines.
Shayna pursued her love of horses and began working as an equestrian, tending to and exercising the horses at a hunter jumper barn in 2018. Towards the end of 2020, she had the opportunity to live and work on a sailboat in the Caribbean. Shayna was first mate and chef on a 46ft catamaran, hosting guests on their vacations around the USVI.
After a year at sea, the grounding energies of the desert were calling, so she headed to Joshua Tree, California without a plan in early 2022. She quickly found herself in an off grid community, spiritual sanctuary, and nature preserve called Boulder Gardens Sanctuary. Shayna is currently photographing and documenting the unique and alternative way of life in a rural, off grid, desert community.
